Park Pride’s Seventh Annual Parks and Greenspace Conference will be held Monday, March 31 at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Galen Cranz, Professor of Architecture at UC Berkeley, will deliver the keynote speech. This signature event brings together leaders working toward the creation of world class park system in Atlanta. The event features a full day of presentations and break out sessions from local leaders focused on sustainability in Atlanta. Two sessions of particular interest to those in real estate.

The first, “Infill Redevelopment, Sustainability & Parks,” provides case studies on how parks and greenspace enhance the value and quality of redevelopments of large urban sites. Moderated by Jim Durrett of the Livable Communities Coalition, speakers include David Anselmi, Parc Downsview Park, Inc.; Jeff Rader, DeKalb County Commission and Jack Sprott, McPherson Planning Redevelopment Authority.

A second, “Parks and Sustainable Cities” brings together national, state and local leaders to discuss how parks are necessary to create vibrant, sustainable cities. Moderated by Debbie McCown of Piedmont Park Conservancy, speakers include Galen Cranz, Professor of Architecture, Univ. of CA, Berkeley, author, The Politics of Parks; Gray Kelly, Earthcraft Communities/Southface; Helen Tapp – GA State Director, The Trust for Public Land and Lynnette Young, Director, Sustainable Atlanta Initiative.
